I can't handle the feels.

I'm about to try...will see how it goes. Might not be successful.
Still one of the greatest movies ever made.

Sure is. Left a big impression on me the first time I watched it.

Same here. Ironically watched it for a class during my freshmen year of college at a private school that wasn't cheap. Really makes you think.

I'm thinking about watching Mrs. Doubtfire or with my daughters tonight. Might not go too well for me. That movie came out as my parents were getting divorced and will bring on some serious feels.

It does. I'm paying huge amounts for my education at the moment, it often really doesn't seem worth it.

I haven't really watched Mrs Doubtfire since I was very young so I don't remember it too well.
That's the thing though, he's been in several movies that can strike a chord with so many people. He did the wacky funny guy in good morning vietnam and the so sincere you feel as though there's real pain in his eyes, like in good morning vietnam.

Having recently finished mine...I have quite a hard time understanding why the 43k (and growing due to interest) in debt seems to have amounted to no real, usable education. Everything I know I learned from reading. As far as I'm concerned I took a 4 year vacation in a shitty midwest town boring myself to death and getting drunk in rundown frat houses. And the bill was ~150k before aid. Seems like there's a problem with the system.

Mine comes to something like $65k because I got grants and scholarships and such. I'm 2 years in and honestly haven't learned all that much considering. I do get to live pretty well at least, I rent a decent house with friends and I managed to save for a car. It's definitely still wildly inefficient, I could've learned just as much on the job in an apprenticeship.

Yeah man, really all I can say is try to read as much outside of class as possible, experience as much as you can. Try to figure out what direction you want to go and then orient yourself in that direction. And learn as much as you can about the field. Really, all they're interested in is making money off you. You'll get the odd professor who will actually take an interest, but other than that, it's really all on you.

Being a car guy my interests really count towards my degree (mechanical engineering) so just reading about a cool car and how it works or doing some wrenching helps. That's part of the problem though, we did a module on engines and I already knew pretty much everything on the curriculum. But if I need that piece of paper that says I passed the degree to get a good job that's what I'll have to get.

That's good, definitely helps that you're going after something that you already have a lot of knowledge in. I know that same feeling haha. At this point...yeah...all you can do is just try to get that piece of paper and then your life can start.

Indeed.
